This page details my Lego Apollo 11 Lunar Lander build. The Lego Apollo 11 Lunar Lander kit arrived on 13th February 2021 and took a little over a day to complete between 17/03/2021 and 18/03/2021. The Lego item number is 10318 and the kit is relatively small consisting of just 1087 pieces. For details of the other Lego kits that I have completed so far see the main Lego Collection page of this website.

Build Details

The Lego Apollo 11 Lunar Lander kit detailed here was released in 2019 to mark the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing.

The kit is a small one compared to the other Lego kits that I have assembled so far, so the build process was fairly straight forward when compared to larger Lego models.

One thing to note is that the finished model can be split in to two parts so that you have both the ascent and decent stages. This is a nice touch and something that I thought was particularly well done.

All things considered this was the easiest kit that I have built so far, but this by no means detracts from the build experience or the finished model.

Summary

This is a small kit so could serve as a good starting point for someone just starting out building their first Lego kits. The finished model includes figures of Buzz Aldrin and my personal hero Neil Armstrong with the possibility to display both figures in various positions, such as stood on the moon’s surface, descending down the Lunar Lander’s ladder or planting the American flag; This provides several different configurations once you are ready to display the finished set.

Overall, this isn’t one of my favourite Lego kits, but it is a worthy addition to my growing collection.
